Vermont Afterschool is excited to be working with the VT9to26 Coalition and the Office of Lt. Governor David Zuckerman to host:
Virtual Youth Forum with Lt. Governor David Zuckerman
Young People in the Time of COVID-19: Thoughts, Concerns, and Looking Ahead
Prep Session for Youth: Monday, April 20, 2-4pm
Virtual Youth Forum: Monday, April 27, 2-4pm
Young Vermonters:
- How is COVID-19 affecting you?
- What do you want legislators and decision-makers to know about what it means to be a young person during this time?
- What thoughts and ideas would you like to share?
The idea behind the virtual Youth Forum is to create a space for young people (ages 9-26) from across the state to share about their experiences during the COVID-19 crisis and their thoughts on what they hope policy-makers and others are taking into account when we look ahead.
The Youth Forum will be hosted online using a virtual meeting platform with safety protocols enacted. Information on how to access the platform will be provided with a specific meeting password only to those young people who register ahead of time.
We envision the forum to run similar to a public hearing with each young person having 1-2 minutes to share their personal testimony.
The Youth Forum is public and will be recorded. Youth under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent/guardian in order to participate.
Any young person wishing to participate in the Youth Forum will be asked to participate in a prep session on Monday, April 20th from 2-4pm. The prep session will give youth the opportunity to meet one another, exchange ideas, and map out their written testimony.
