Leadership and quality in afterschool programs are inseparable; for programs to succeed and become sustainable, they need strong leadership at all levels. This training opportunity builds strong leaders and offers intentionally small cohorts to build community, share collective knowledge, and develop a network of afterschool leaders in diverse programming locations. This FREE four-part series is for leaders of licensed programs in the afterschool field in Vermont and is specifically designed for experienced directors and site coordinators who are looking for that next level of growth and development. The L.E.A.D. program will provide afterschool and third space professionals with the tools to hone their strengths and develop new skills to take on more advanced leadership roles in the future. Participants will develop and improve their leadership skills, while enhancing their confidence in their abilities. Each session will include a training session, a guest speaker, lunch, and time to network. Topics include Leadership Development, supporting a Positive Staff Culture, Developing Strong Social Emotional Learning (SEL) supports in programs, and Leadership through Collaboration. 16 hours of professional development offered at no charge.

2023-2024 Meeting Dates:
This program is open to those who have completed LEAD 1.0 and are interested in continuing to further develop their skills and collaborations with other like-minded leaders in the afterschool field. Participants will participate in three in-person meetings, and monthly virtual coaching sessions with a designated Vermont Afterschool coach, as well as with a colleague in the LEAD 2.0 program. As part of this program, participants will also create and implement a project that will improve the quality of their program and support their growing leadership skills. Each participant will present their project and working portfolio at the end of the course.
2023-2024 Meeting Dates:
Participants who successfully complete LEAD 1.0 and 2.0 can earn a Leadership Micro-credential and the $250 bonus.
