Boot Camp Basics Training – Basic Specialized Care

Boot Camp Basics are workshops and trainings designed for brand new staff in summer, third space, and out-of-school time programs and are a great way for new staff to orient to the field and learn basic best practices in their work, as well as offer experienced staff opportunities for professional development.

Training description: Basic Specialized Care (BSC) is a six-hour introductory training for early childhood and afterschool professionals who serve vulnerable children and their families in regulated child care and afterschool settings. This virtual training is one of the requirements to become a Specialized Care Provider in Vermont. Topics covered include caregiving together with families; child abuse, neglect, and trauma; understanding differences in development; and understanding children’s behavior.
