Training – Culturally Responsive Practices for Afterschool Programming

This training focuses on cultivating cultural humility and the practices of culturally responsive afterschool activities and program structures. This is an engagement and discussion-based workshop where participants will be asked to keep their cameras on for the duration of the training. Come prepared to participate in breakout groups, larger group discussions, and using the chat function.

Objectives:

• Recognize the differences between cultural humility and cultural competence, and why humility is a more sustainable and inclusive mindset.
• Identify the 8 Staff Practices of Culturally Responsive Program Structure and reflect on their connection to your programming.
• Breakdown the 5 Key Components of Culturally Responsive Afterschool Activities and what they mean/look like in practice.
