Governor’s Address Features Afterschool

Yesterday, Governor Phil Scott gave his annual State of the State address to the Legislature and featured afterschool for all as a central part of his policy platform. In the speech, the Governor proposed “that we begin creating a universal afterschool network that ensures every child has access to enrichment opportunities outside of current classroom time” and acknowledged that “kids who participate in afterschool activities and programs do better in school and in life than kids who don’t.”

This is a big moment for afterschool to be acknowledged and supported by the Governor. We look forward to working with Gov. Scott and the Legislature to help make this concept a reality.
